QoS Aware Mixed Traffic Packet Scheduling in OFDMA-based LTE-Advanced Networks

چکیده
In this paper, a packet scheduling framework is proposed for LTE-Advanced downlink transmission. The proposed framework adds the new functionality of an adaptive TD scheduler with built-in congestion control to the existing conventional quality of service (QoS) aware packet scheduling algorithms. It optimizes multiuser diversity in both the time and frequency domains by jointly considering the channel condition, queue status and the QoS feedback. The framework aims to improve the system spectral efficiency by optimizing the use of available resources while maintaining QoS requirements of different service classes and a certain degree of fairness among users. The results show an improved QoS of Real Time traffic and a fair share of radio resources to Non Real Time traffic types. KeywordsPacket scheduling; OFDMA; QoS; LTE-A.

New generation of wireless networks, LTE and WiMAX, supports many services which consume a lot of resources (such as VOIP, Video Conference, Digital Video, Multimedia streams and online Multi-player Games). Supporting multi-media services in wireless communication systems provide new resource allocation challenges. Because of high loads in downlink, efficient resource allocation is vital in dow...

We consider in this paper downlink scheduling for different traffic classes at the MAC layer of wireless systems based on orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), such as the recent 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) long-term evolution (LTE)/LTE-A wireless standard. Our goal is to provide via the scheduling decisions quality of service (QoS), but also to guarantee fairness...

OFDMA based-Long-term evolution (LTE) femtocells represent a very promising answer to the ever rising bandwidth demand of mobile applications. Femtocells, standardised as HeNBs, are end user deployed network nodes for indoor environment with a network backhaul provided by the digital subscriber line (DSL) or cable modem. The base station called as Femtocell Access Point can be easily deployed i...
متن کاملA New Fairness Index and Novel Approach for QoS-Aware Resource Allocation in LTE Networks Based on Utility Functions
Resource allocation techniques have recently appeared as a widely recognized feature in LTE networks. Most of existing approaches in resource allocation focus on maximizing network’s utility functions. The great potential of utility function in improving resource allocation and enhancing fairness and mean opinion score (MOS) indexes has attracted large efforts over the last few years. In this p...
